Supported through university



Fanizo, a Mzuzu university student on her 2nd year nursing program, has been supported by Hope Plus to continue her education. The young woman though landed at her dream of attending a tertiary institution in nursing but still faces challenges with education support as she comes from the very poor family and being is the only one in her family to get to such a academic level.



Award given by Hope Plus Officer



In the effort of promoting education Hope Plus organises awards for the most performing students every term. This encourages other students to work extra hard and do well next exams to benefit from the award.




Educational inclusion promoted



Inclusive education is also promoted by the Hope Plus Organisation to ensure equal participation and opportunities. Above is a picture of Harawa who has a disability and he was awarded a prize for an outstanding student in his class at Nkhorongo School




Meeting for young people living with HIV



10 schools in two education zones of Nkhorongo and Area 1B in the city of Mzuzu had their AIDS club matrons and patrons trained this October through organisation. Training of such groups will strengthen the clubs, assist the students to be more supported with information on HIV and AIDS, care for those born HIV and reduce prevalence of HIV for next generation.



Hope plus organised Meeting for young people living with HIV



Hope Plus Organisation arranged an orientation meeting with YPs (Young People living with HIV) There were a number of challenges that were discussed

Among key challenges were: nutrition, education support and recreation materials for sporting.

There are more than 60 YP living with HIV and some are at primary, secondary and tertiary education levels. The group formed an Association to be easily targeted with support from various well-wishers.

2017 Updates



EDUCATION SUPPORT ACTIVITIES




Above is Agnes aged 28 getting support from Hope plus organization. The girl droped out of school at primary level joined sex work influenced by others. After 10 years facing serious economic hardships she came under Hope plus organization being hopeless with life and now supported school fees at Luwinga secondadry school in form one. (Adding hope to little hope or hopeless)



LIVELIHOOD SUPPORT TO YOUNG PEOPLE




Hope plus organization fulfilling her objectives of economic empowerment to youth through agriculture livelihood support. Most youth are unemployed but with little support like seed, fertilizer and technical support it can make different in their lives.



AWARENESS MEETING ON HIV AND AIDS, TEENAGE PREGNANCY, AND EARLY MARRIAGES



Awareness sessions are conducted with an aim of sensitizing the youth and community on challenges of HIV and AIDS, Teenage pregnancy, Early marriages that would affect the youth achieving their future desirable goals. Hope Giving



Although we do not have any funding, activities are done through generous
contributions with a passion of supporting youth. For example end of semester we gave out
prizes to best performing students as a motivation to both girls and boys.
